The President began by once again expressing his condolences to the victims’ families and the entire Polish people, and stressed that the Russian authorities would be completely open to cooperating with their Polish counterparts in establishing the tragedy’s causes.
The Polish leadership thanked the Russian President and the Russian people for the solidarity and support they have shown throughout these days.
Both sides said that this sorrow has brought the two nations closer together. The Russian and Polish leaders believe that the feelings shown over these days will be a defining moment in further development of the two countries’ relations.
The Russian delegation taking part in the meeting included Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Presidential Aide Sergei Prikhodko, and Russian Ambassador to Poland Vladimir Grinin. The Polish delegation included Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, and Co-Chairman of the Polish-Russian Group for Difficult Matters Adam Rotfeld.
