Accompanied by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea, the President toured the stand on the Russian Orthodox Social Service. The President was shown an icon created specifically for the exhibition. The icon of Saint Yelizaveta Romanova, the Righteous Martyr and Grand Princess, will be consecrated in a special ceremony on the saint’s 160th birth anniversary. The icon’s style follows the traditions of 19th century – early 20th century academic painting.
Vladimir Putin also toured the Acts of Kindness multimedia exhibition on the traditions of volunteering and charity in Russia from the early days of Christianity in our country and until today. The exhibition is dedicated to the people whose example proves the importance of kindness and mutual help in the world. It features numerous well-known and lesser-known facts from the lives of Russian saints, statespersons, public activists, members of the military and cultural workers.
