The message reads, in part:
“I greet you on the occasion of opening the 26th World Russian People’s Council that united under the arches of Christ the Saviour Cathedral representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, other traditional religions, heads of government authorities, prominent scientists and public figures.
Your agenda includes issues critical for the country’s sovereign development and for the future of the entire huge space of the Russian world, such as strengthening the unity of our multiethnic people, preserving traditions, spiritual and moral values bequeathed to us by our ancestors. It is the solidarity of citizens, common readiness to defend the interests of the Fatherland, truth and justice that allow us to meet any challenges with dignity, to move forward confidently, to achieve our goals, to gain new friends and like-minded people.
I will make it a point that the world outlook of the Russian world, based on openness and unwavering respect for all original cultures and civilisations, enjoys a wide response on the planet. More and more countries and peoples stand for building a secure, democratic multipolar world order, removing barriers to cooperation, and rejecting any forms of racism and neocolonialism.
I am sure that your forum will be held in an atmosphere of free and creative discussions and your constructive proposals will certainly be much needed.”
