Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu and Governor of Kemerovo Region Aman Tuleyev, who are at the site of the accident, reported to the President via teleconference on the aftermath of the explosions and the measures being taken.
Minister of Healthcare and Social Development Tatyana Golikova briefed the President on measures being taken to provide help to those injured. Other meeting participants included representatives of Moscow hospitals that are caring for injured individuals.
The President gave instructions to continue rescue works and conduct a thorough investigation of the causes of the tragedy and the reasons for such a serious technological accident. Dmitry Medvedev instructed Prosecutor General Yury Chaika to conduct an investigation on the reasons for the tragedy in the Raspadskaya Mine, including an inquiry into how thoroughly labour safety laws were observed.
The President stated that he will continue monitoring the situation.
Other participants in the meeting included First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov, who is heading the state commission on managing the accident, and Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko.
