The President outlined several priorities for the Accounts Chamber’s work, related to strategic objectives such as economic modernisation, making budget spending more efficient, managing state property, and fighting corruption.
Mr Medvedev also spoke about the Accounts Chamber’s responsibility for supervising social sector financing, the efficiency of spending on major projects such as preparation for the APEC summit in Vladivostok and the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and big investment in high technology.
The President said that the Accounts Chamber’s capability as a large state audit agency could be used at international level too as part of a system for reciprocal monitoring of different countries’ economic development. Such proposals were put forward by the G20, Mr Medvedev said.
