During the meeting Defence Minister Serdyukov reported that the Defence Ministry has set up a plan to fight forest fires. Regional Armed Forces’ command centres to help extinguish the fires have been set up.
According to Mr Serdyukov, more than 300 units of equipment will be used to extinguish the fires. It is planned that three battalions will be deployed in the Moscow Region in the next few days for supplying water and refilling fire trucks.
All available forces, all our fire departments and units will be fully engaged, the Minister said.
Dmitry Medvedev noted that the Defence Ministry must coordinate with the Emergencies Ministry and pay particular attention to fire safety of military facilities.
