President of State Corporation Olimpstroy Taimuraz Bolloyev reported to Dmitry Medvedev that the construction of all ‘mountain cluster’ Olympic facilities is proceeding as planned, and even ahead of schedule. The bobsleigh/luge track, initially scheduled for completion in 36 months, will be finished in 22 months. The mountain cluster will feature 52 facilities, including five competition sites: the ski jumping complex, the bobsleigh/luge track, the snowboarding and freestyle stadium, the biathlon complex, and the ski stadium. Taking into account the Vancouver Olympics experience, where events were held in above-zero temperatures, organisers are planning to install artificial snow generators.
By 2011, the Rose Farm ski resort will be ready to host trial national competitions and one stage of the Alpine FIS European Cup.
Winter Olympics Organising Committee President Dmitry Chernyshenko made a multimedia presentation of the 2014 Olympic Games and trial national and international competitions, which feature 74 events. The next three seasons will see approximately five thousand athletes and 250 thousand spectators visit Sochi.
