Following the meeting, Dmitry Medvedev stated that the CSTO Background information Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) nations are ready to work with Kyrgyzstan directly and within the framework of the Organisation in order to normalise the situation there. The President of Russia emphasised that the summit involved an open discussion of what happened, what lessons must be learned, what can be done to help Kyrgyzstan, and what steps should be taken to create an effectively working government.

In discussing the CSTO’s work overall, the President of Russia noted the Organisation’s significant influence on the situation in the region, pointing out that the CSTO is a deterrent for many negative trends, particularly so-called frozen conflicts.

The next CSTO summit will be held in December in Moscow, and the Republic of Belarus will assume the rotating presidency of the Organisation.
