President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev: Based on your report I have ordered an end to the operations to oblige Georgia to restore peace. The purpose of the operations has been achieved. The security of our peacekeeping brigade and civilian population has been restored. The aggressor has been punished and suffered very heavy losses. Its armed forces are disorganized.
Nevertheless, when pockets of resistance and other aggressive actions occur you must take a decision concerning their destruction.
I would like to note the efficiency of our peacekeeping brigade and the harmonious work of all units. I would ask you, Anatoly Eduardovich, to submit your suggestions for which participants of the military operations should receive state awards and to convey my thanks to all participants.
Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov: I will be sure to do so.
