President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev: I have been wanting to see you for a good while now, Sergei Vadimovich.
There are a number of issues I would like to discuss with you. The first thing I’d like to draw to your attention concerns one of the installations being built in preparation for the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit — I am referring to the bridge linking Vladivostok to Russky Island. I signed a special instruction two days ago on the bridge’s construction. This is a special project involving considerable investment, and I ask the Audit Chamber to keep it under particular supervision.
Chairman of The Audit Chamber Sergei Stepashin: You can consider it done. On Friday, I will set out the mission and appoint a group at our collegium meeting. As you know, we have already worked on APEC. I reported to you on it when you were still working in the Government.
Dmitry Medvedev: Good. This is a major project and in cost could be one of the biggest. This makes it all the more important that everything be in order, transparent, and the money is spent in accordance with the set procedures.
Sergei Stepashin: We will keep it under our constant control. I will send working groups there and keep you regularly updated.
Dmitry Medvedev: Then that is agreed, Sergei Vadimovich.
Now let’s talk about the budget and a number of other issues.
