President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev: Dear Kurmanbek Saliyevich!
I am very happy to greet you here in Moscow, in the Kremlin. I would like to once again wish you a Happy New Year. I wish success and prosperity in the upcoming year to the Kyrgyz people, to everyone who is living in Kyrgyzstan.
Of course, this year will be very eventful, and it has not been simple so far. Nonetheless, we are still able to work toward accelerating the development of bilateral dialogue and, consequently, the resolution of a range of social issues and large programs; we have seen real results from our work together.
In regard to this, I would like to note, of course, that your working visit today has an entirely specific nature and is related to signing an array of serious bilateral documents, such as the memorandum on cooperation in the financial and economic sphere, intergovernmental agreement on constructing the Kambaratinskaya hydroelectric power station, and many other documents that, in our opinion, will favour the strengthening of Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation, Russian-Kyrgyz ties, the overall stabilization of economic life and the accomplishment of many objectives that Kyrgyzstan sets for itself and which are also particularly relevant for us today.
I greet you warmly, and I hope that we will be able to discuss all of these issues and sign all the necessary agreements today, concisely and successfully.
President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev: Thank you, Dmitry Anatolyevich. I am very happy to meet with you again in this New Year, in Moscow. I think that the meetings which preceded today’s meeting, as well as today’s meeting, will all encourage our relations and ties to become even more productive and more effective in the interests of both governments. I do not doubt it. And, of course, as you mentioned yourself, this year is not simple, it is complicated – we feel it, and everyone feels it today. At a time like this, perhaps, it is particularly important to meet more often and to coordinate our actions, in order to get out of this complicated situation with minimal losses. Kyrgyzstan’s delegation has arrived with specific suggestions, which have been discussed, and we will continue to discuss them. I think that all this will be aimed at strengthening our relationship and improving the well-being of our nations.
Dmitry Medvedev: Then that is how we will proceed.
