President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr Director General, colleagues, good evening,
I am very happy to see you again. I hope that the work within the framework of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum will be useful and interesting for you.
I know that you actively participate in its work and have already spoken on several platforms.
Russia works actively with the IAEA. Our state corporation Rosatom has a very serious package of orders for the next 10 years and it is one of the most active players on the market. We have a solid 40% share of the market in one of the most high-tech sectors – enrichment. You know like nobody else that we strictly comply with everything pertaining to non-proliferation, and work in close contact with the IAEA.
I am very happy to see you and for this opportunity to discuss current issues.
IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano (retranslated): Thank you very much, Mr President.
It is a great honour for me to be invited here as your guest. I arrived just yesterday, but I already had talks with Russia’s Foreign Minister, Mr Lavrov, and participated in a session within the framework of the St Petersburg Economic Forum.
I want to say that Russia is one of the IAEA’s most important partners, and I am very happy for the opportunity to discuss with you certain current issues and other problems that may be of mutual interest.
