Address at the opening ceremony of the Movement of the First congress
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Good afternoon, friends. I am pleased to welcome the participants and guests of this congress.
Let me remind you that the Movement of the First emerged very recently – on your initiative, on the initiative of your peers – in 2022. Since then, it has grown into a truly vast, nationwide endeavour: more than 11 million people now participate in this movement. I congratulate you on this achievement.
One of the movement’s key tasks is to assist young people, the rising generation – as you and your peers are often reminded – in finding your place in life. If a person identifies their path toward a goal that aligns best with their aspirations at the start of their journey, this becomes the foundation for success. Practically everyone strives for success. Even if someone claims they need nothing and are content as they are – deep down, everyone seeks success.
To achieve it, you must find your calling in life, the endeavour to which you are ready to devote yourself. This is, among other reasons, why the Movement of the First exists.
Some aspire to cultivate their intellect, to pursue science, to dedicate more time in life to education, knowledge, and learning. Others aim to grow stronger and excel in sports.
Some wish to engage in business from a young age, from your current stage of life, to become prosperous. But why? Not to grow ill with gold, both literally and figuratively. After all, one does not acquire something only to let it consume them.
Do you know the secret? It lies in sharing what you have with others, in helping and supporting others. This is how a person truly discovers themselves. This is how one attains the greatest fulfilment – by aiding those close to them: mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends; the small town or village where they live; a major city; or our vast, beloved Homeland, Russia.
This is how a person reveals their finest qualities, gains the highest satisfaction, and feels themselves both a human being and a citizen of their country.
Your slogan, Each First Will Help, is the first step on this path. It is an excellent concept.
