Official visit to Austria

Vladimir Putin held talks with President of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer. The two presidents attended the signing of an Agreement on mutual assistance following natural and industrial disasters and cooperation in preventing them. Later, Vladimir Putin and Heinz Fischer made press statements and answered journalists’ questions. Also, the Russian President met with Austrian Federal Chancellor Werner Faymann, President of the Swiss Confederation and Chairperson-in-Office of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Didier Burkhalter, and Austrian business community leaders. Mr Putin also took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to Soviet soldiers who fell in the liberation of Austria from Nazism.
