The Russia-Africa Summit took place in Sochi, chaired by Vladimir Putin
and President of the Arab Republic of Egypt and African Union Chairman Abdel
Fattah el-Sisi.
The summit was the first top-level event in the history of Russia-Africa
relations attended by heads of state of all countries on the African continent
and heads of major subregional associations and organisations.
The summit participants paid particular attention to discussing the state of and prospects for Russia's relations with African countries and broadening
cooperation in politics, the economy, technology and culture, as well as current
issues on the international agenda.
As part of top-level events, the leaders of Russia and Egypt took part
in the plenary session of the Russia–Africa Economic Forum attended by Russian
and African officials and members of the business community.
President of Russia also spoke with representatives of African regional
organisations and heads of leading African news agencies.
On the sidelines of the summit, Vladimir Putin met with leaders of a number of African countries.
