State visit to Azerbaijan

President of Russia Vladimir Putin paid a two-day state visit to Azerbaijan.

Vladimir Putin arrived in Baku on August 18 and had an informal meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse, First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva.

On August 19, Russia-Azerbaijan talks in the restricted and expanded format took place. Following the talks, the heads of state made statements for the media. The two presidents witnessed an exchange of intergovernmental and other documents signed as part of the state visit. Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev also adopted a Joint Statement.

Next, the two leaders toured Baku White City and visited the Holy Myrrhbearers Cathedral.

In conclusion of the visit, the President of Azerbaijan hosted a state reception in honour of the President of Russia.
