Official visit to Azerbaijan
Dmitry Medvedev and President of Azerbaijan concluded their talks with the signing of a number of bilateral documents, in particular on the state border and on increased natural gas supplies.
Mr Aliyev handed over to Mr Medvedev Orthodox icons confiscated earlier by Azerbaijani customs officers from people attempting to smuggle them out of Russia. Also during the visit, an official ceremony took place conferring on Mr Medvedev an honorary doctorate from Baku State University.
On the first day of the visit, President Medvedev laid wreaths at the grave of Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev and the monument to fallen heroes.
