The workshop was attended by regional governors and their deputies in charge of construction, as well as representatives of federal executive bodies, development institutes and the expert community.
In his welcoming remarks, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kiriyenko noted that the Government and the State Council Commission were holding the second training workshop on a key strategic document that determines long-term priorities and the main areas for the development of the construction sector and housing and communal services, featuring senior regional officials. Notes and proposals from the regions made at the first workshop in June 2021 were taken into consideration when drafting the strategy.
In his report, Marat Khusnullin noted that the strategy would promote a balanced and complex approach to planning urban construction; improving public spaces to make local residents more comfortable; reducing the gap between the region and the city; and eliminating infrastructural barriers. In addition to this, it will have a multiplier effect in the socioeconomic development of Russian regions.
The workshop took place in a roundtable discussion format with seven thematic groups.
Experts will consider the proposals emanating from the workshop during the drafting of the strategy for the construction sector and infrastructure development of the regions until 2030 with a forecast until 2035, as well as the action plan for its implementation.
