“It is always difficult to study, but it’s also very interesting. After all, to begin your lives as adults, you will need an enormous amount of knowledge, skills and abilities, which will become a sturdy foothold in a wide variety of situations. And your success will determine the success of our nation,” the First Lady said to the students, referring to September 1 as a time for hopes and new plans.

“All of us want our Fatherland to be beautiful and happy; to ensure this, you must know the traditions of your people, love your native language, preserve your homeland, help one another, and treat your families, communities and teachers with kindness and respect,” Svetlana Medvedeva stated.

The First Lady specifically congratulated first-years on the beginning of their studies, after they had attended their first lessons. “I wish you health, happiness, and of course as many good grades as possible, from the bottom of my heart. Please grow up to be kind, smart and hard-working. I hope you excel in your studies, athletics and creative pursuits, and I hope our country will be proud of your achievements,” she told the youngest pupils, who were in school for the very first time. As a memento of this important event, Mrs Medvedeva presented each first form student with a box of chocolate school supplies, as well as the Big Book of Russia encyclopaedia.

The First Lady also visited one of the classes for older students. Svetlana Medvedeva noted that its topic – Russia, Our Fatherland; the State Symbols of the Russian Federation – was very important and interesting. She wished the students success in their studies, fulfilling all their plans and making interesting discoveries.
