Before the centre’s opening, Bishop Panteleimon of Smolensk and Vyazma held a prayer service attended by the First Lady, the centre’s young patients, and their parents.
Svetlana Medvedeva toured the classrooms and spoke with children, their parents and teachers. Later, she attended a concert staged by the centre’s patients and students of the Elizavetinskaya School and orphanage at the Martha and Mary Convent of Mercy.
