The President of Russia made the decision that Russia would participate in helping to rebuild the Ardinghelli Palace and an 11th century church.
Before his trip to Italy, Dmitry Medvedev signed an order to create a special interdepartmental work group that will include representatives from all of Russia’s respective ministries.
The historic centre of L’Aquila suffered significant damage as a result of a major earthquake that shook the city on April 6, 2009.
Immediately following the earthquake, Dmitry Medvedev offered assistance in recovering from the disaster. A group of Russian Ministry of Emergencies and Disaster Relief experts jointly with Italian specialists worked in L’Aquila to inspect the buildings affected by the earthquake.
