The concert began with a brief greeting by dancer and choreographer Vladimir Vasiliev, who is also the president of the Ulanova Foundation. In his greeting, Mr Vasiliev introduced the two dance companies where Galina Ulanova worked: the Mariinsky Theatre, where the ballerina began her career, and the Bolshoi Theatre, where she gained international fame and success. Both companies participated in the gala event, which featured excerpts from the best-known ballets in which Ms Ulanova performed.
The concert also included film excerpts that captured Galina Ulanova’s everyday life, as well as her unforgettable performances as Odette, Giselle, and Juliet.
There was copious applause from the audience throughout the entire three-act concert.
