The meeting will bring together the best teachers who have passed the first selection rounds of the competition. The finals and the awards ceremony will take place later, on October 5, 2014.
The annual Teacher of the Year competition has been held since 1992 and was initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science, Russia’s Trade Union of Education, and the Uchitelskaya Gazeta (Educators’ Newspaper) newspaper.
The contest involved 82 teachers from all federal districts, including Crimea and Sevastopol. The average age of the competitors is 37 (the youngest is 25, the oldest – 53). The average track record is 14.5 years, with four of the competitors having been on the job for over 25 years.
