Every year this sports and business summit brings together representatives of more than 100 international sports federations and organisations. The Convention’s mission is to unite sports organisations from all around the world to work together and develop sport.

SportAccord was established as an international organisation in Lausanne, on April 21, 1967. It started out with 26 sports federations and now has 109. The organisation focuses primarily on exchanging knowledge and experience in the areas of ethics and the international sport movement’s social responsibility, and promoting cooperation between the sports world and the business community. The organisation’s current president is Marius Vizer. The sports federation heads taking part in the organisation have initiated a number of regular, multi-disciplinary sports events, such as the SportAccord World Combat Games, the SportAccord World Mind Games, and the SportAccord World Beach Games.
