The President will meet with members of the Russian Federal Assembly’s Council of Legislators. The event, marking Russian Parliamentarianism Day and the 110th anniversary of the start of the first State Duma’s work, will take place at the Tauride Palace. Regional parliaments’ implementation of the Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly will be the main subject of discussion.
Mr Putin will also visit the Russian Geographical Society’s (RGO) headquarters, where he will hold a meeting of the RGO Board of Trustees to review the society’s results for 2015, present this year’s best projects, and outline development plans for the future.
A ceremony presenting RGO awards for research in the field of geography, carrying out expeditions, promoting the heritage of outstanding Russian scientists and explorers, and publishing and ethnographical activity will also take place at the event. Mr Putin will also present certificates for the award of grants in 2016 to carry out new projects under the RGO’s aegis.
Media representatives, the heads of a number of federal ministries and agencies working closely with the RGO, specialists in preserving endangered species, geographers and other guests have also been invited to the event.
