As part of his working trip to St Petersburg on April 24, the President will meet with members of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation Federal Assembly. The event traditionally takes place at Tauride Palace and is timed to coincide with Russian Parliamentarism Day. The meeting that will be held with Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko and State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin as co-chairs, will focus on improving legislation for counteracting corruption, legislative support of state policy on regulating trade activity and import replacement, improving parliamentary control at federal and regional levels, and other major areas of improving Russian legislation concerning state regional policy.
On the same day, Vladimir Putin will chair a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society, which will take place at the Society's headquarters. The meeting participants will sum up the results of the organisation's performance in 2016 and will present their most notable projects for 2017. The meeting will also include a presentation of the Board of Trustees new members and a ceremony to present medals of the Society. It will be attended by members of the Society's Board of Trustees, governing and media boards, as well as top scholars.
