On board the pipeline-laying vessel Pioneering Spirit, the President will observe the joining of the shallow and deep-water sections of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline. This ship, one of the biggest construction vessels in the world, will lay the deep-water section of the Turkish Stream pipeline. It can lay 3.5–5 kilometres of gas pipeline a day. The pipeline’s total length is to reach 937 kilometres. The Turkish Stream pipeline will ensure stable direct gas supplies not only to Turkey but also to consumers in southern and south eastern Europe. The annual planned shipping volume is 31.5 billion cubic metres of gas.
