The President will hold a final meeting with the Defence Ministry leadership and defence industry heads at the ERA Military Innovation Technopark. The participants will discuss the implementation of the State Armaments Programme, in particular, the construction of permanent military infrastructure facilities.
The Era technopark was established in accordance with the President’s Executive Order of June 25, 2018. The construction of the first stage, covering an area of over 170,000 sq m, lasted for 155 days.
The concept of a military technopark is designed to find solutions for a whole range of matters: to speed up the development and introduction of breakthrough technology in the defence industry, create an infrastructure for successful cooperation of research, educational and production organisations and support talented young people by implementing programmes for young scientists in the Russian Army.
The laboratory cluster already has 37 enterprises, including large concerns like Kalashnikov and Sukhoi, as well as start-up teams. Through joint efforts they have launched the implementation of 48 innovation projects in robotics, energy efficiency, bio engineering, and information systems, to name a few.
Service personnel from four research companies established in the ERA technopark are taking part in these developments. They consist of 160 young conscripts who have not just done very well with their studies but already have their own inventions, patents and scientific publications to their credit.
