In accordance with the Russian Federation Central Electoral Commission protocol of March 23, 2004, on the results of the presidential election:
1) 108,064,281 voters were registered on the electoral roll at the moment voting ended;
2) 69,581,761 voters took part in the election. This represents 64.39 percent –more than half — of voters registered on the electoral roll at the time voting ended;
3) Votes were cast by 69,504,609 voters;
4) Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, registered as a candidate for the post of President of the Russian Federation, received 49,565,238 votes, which comes to 71.31 percent or more than half of the votes cast.
In accordance with articles 19, 76 and 79 of the Federal Law “On Elections for President of the Russian Federation”, the Central Electoral Commission recognised the Presidential election as valid and declared Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin elected to the post of President of the Russian Federation.
