Vladimir Zuikov, winner of the 2020 Presidential Prize for writing and art for children and young people (posthumously)
The prize was awarded for his contribution to the development of national animation art and cinematographic education.
Vladimir Zuikov was born on January 27, 1935 in Moscow and died on February 25, 2021. Merited Artist of the Russian Federation (1989) and winner of various professional awards.
Vladimir Zuikov graduated from the country's first art and graphics school (a department of the Potyomkin Moscow State Pedagogical Institute) qualified as an art teacher. Up until 1967, he taught at a school and collaborated with the magazines Znaniye-Sila and Khimiya i Zhizn as a book graphic artist and illustrator. Both publications were known for their artistic design at the time.
From 1967 to 1996, he worked at the Soyuzmultfilm animation studio where he was an irreplaceable partner for renowned directors Fyodor Khitruk, Eduard Nazarov, Valery Ugarov, Gennady Sokolsky as well as many others. His talent helped create the famous characters from the world of Winnie the Pooh, The Island, I Grant You A Star, Icarus and the Wise Men, Caliph Stork – a total of about 30 animated films.
Zuikov's teaching talent was fully manifested during the years of teaching at the directing animation films department at the Gerasimov National State Institute of Cinematography.
In 1972, Zuikov began working as a book graphic artist, producing brilliant illustrations for children's books by Kir Bulychyov, Astrid Lindgren, Alan Milne, Oscar Wilde, Grigory Oster, and many others. His works are preserved in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
Along with the outstanding artist’s rich creative heritage, his legacy also includes his students – the successors of the best traditions of Russian animation.
Alexander Punko, winner of the 2020 Presidential Prize for writing and art for children and young people
The prize was awarded for his contribution to the development of Russian musical education and the popularisation of music for brass.
Alexander Punko is a teacher at the Children's Art School No. 1 in Karasuk, Karasuk District, Novosibirsk Region.
Alexander Punko was born on August 3, 1977 in Slavgorod, Altai Territory. He earned his degree from Kemerovo State University of Culture and Arts in 2009. He is a teacher of the highest qualification category, with 22 years of teaching experience. Winner of professional, departmental and regional awards.
A bright musician and a talented teacher, he has spent over 20 years nurturing an interest in music in the younger generation. Alexander Punko has fostered a whole constellation of virtuoso trumpeters, winners of regional, national and international competitions.
He is the founder and leader of the children's brass band, Bis Band. Bis Band is a bright creative team, the golden pool of Children's Art School No. 1 of the Karasuk District and the pride of the entire Novosibirsk Region. The band was set up in 2003, and already in 2004, it was awarded the honorary title of Exemplary Amateur Group. In 2016, the band was awarded the title of Merited Popular Art Group of Russia for its exceptional performing skills and intensive concert activity. Due to the original content and stylistic variety of its concert programmes, and the high performing level of the young musicians, this group excellently represents brass performing art in Russia as well as other countries – in Italy, France, and Germany.

Igor Ugolnikov, Alexander Shkolnik and Dmitry Poshtarenko have put together the People's Feat exhibition at the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.
Igor Ugolnikov was born on December 15, 1962 in Moscow. General director of the VoyenFilm studio, actor, director, screenwriter, producer, television presenter. Merited Artist of the Russian Federation. Awarded with a commendation from the President as well as departmental and public awards.
He has been in charge of 22 film projects recreating the events of wartime with high accuracy.
Alexander Shkolnik was born on March 25, 1964 in Nizhny Tagil, Sverdlovsk Region. Director of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 (Victory Museum), Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation. He was awarded the Order of Honor, the Medal of the Order for Services to the Fatherland, 2nd degree. PhD (Pedagogy).
He developed the concept and literary script for the display based on a multi-genre approach and advanced technology to create an effect of immersion into that time.
Dmitry Poshtarenko was born on June 17, 1990 in Petrokrepost, Leningrad Region. General Director of Proryv Limited Liability Company. Leader of the Shlisselburg search group. He has created about 15 three-dimensional historical panoramas and dioramas. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Services to the Fatherland, 2nd degree; Certificate of Honour of the President of the Russian Federation, and commendation from the President of the Russian Federation.
He has developed the artistic concept for the display and scenographic solutions for museum space.
The People's Feat exhibition, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, opened at the Victory Museum in 2020. The display takes up an area of more than 3,000 square metres and includes 7,000 exhibits, tens of thousands of digitised archival documents, a significant selection of historical chronicles, and 58 interactive facilities. The wartime atmosphere is recreated by various methods in 17 rooms.
The exhibition was the most vivid museum-based event in 2020. Planned as a complex audiovisual historically accurate documentary presentation primarily targeting the younger generation, it generates a high emotional impact and fuels an interest in a more detailed study of the national history.
