The 2021 Russian Federation National Award for Outstanding Achievements in Charity Work goes to Yelizaveta OLESKINA.
Yelizaveta Oleskina was born on June 24, 1988 in Moscow. She is the Director of the Starost v Radost [Happiness in Old Age] Charity Foundation for helping the elderly and people with disabilities.
In 2007, Yelizaveta Oleskina established a volunteer movement to help the elderly. Since 2011, she has been managing the Starost v Radost Charity Foundation for the elderly and the disabled. The foundation runs numerous charitable programmes for the elderly, providing assistance in treatment and physical rehabilitation of the elderly, helps to care for them and provides care items. The foundation helps to organise creative leisure, improve the nutrition of the elderly, and maintain comfort and safety in their homes and social institutions. The foundation provides care to tens of thousands of elderly people in many Russian regions.
Yelizaveta Oleskina proposed creating a system of long-term care for the elderly. This idea was supported by President of Russia Vladimir Putin at a meeting with leaders of socially oriented and charitable organisations in Petrozavodsk on July 26, 2017. Today, the pilot project under the Demography National Project is nearing completion. The experience gained makes it possible to move forward in establishing a nationwide system of long-term care.
