Following the World Economic Forum, held on January 24–28, 2011 in Davos, Switzerland, the Government of Russia was instructed to present suggestions on mechanisms for supporting Russian students’ and young professionals’ studies at leading foreign educational and research institutions.
Currently, several mechanisms are in place to provide training and retraining for specialists abroad.
The Government of Russia is suggesting that the current instruments for supporting education abroad are to be incorporated into a single coordination mechanism, balanced in its implementation timelines, indicators, and criteria of candidate selection.
It is suggested that the most talented and promising young people be granted opportunities to receive an education at leading foreign universities within the framework of this mechanism. If their studies abroad are completed successfully, these specialists are to take advanced positions in Russian business, science, education or public administration upon returning to Russia.
