In his message, the President of Russia noted the successful development of relations between the two nations based on the traditions of friendship and shared spiritual and cultural values, which have united Russians and Belarusians for centuries. Vladimir Putin also stressed the effectiveness of the Union State as a mechanism of bilateral cooperation, whose experience has come in highly useful during the creation of a broader integration structure: the Eurasian Economic Union.
The Russian leader commended the results achieved by the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, which took place on March 3 in Moscow, and expressed confidence that the implementation of the agreements reached there will further enhance the entire range of Russian-Belarusian relations, coordination of efforts in the areas of foreign policy, defence and security interests of the two nations and stability and security in Eurasia.
