The Protocol was signed in Minsk on November 2, 2016.
The Protocol’s provisions clarify the Agreement’s terminology and introduce changes regarding the organisational structure of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as rules of engagement for the use of weapons and military equipment by duty air defence units during joint combat duty missions.
Implementation of the Protocol will make it possible to more reliably guard the Union State’s air space, will help strengthen the security of both states and will not require additional federal budget funding.
The Protocol contains no regulations, other than those stipulated by Russian legislation.
