The Agreement was signed in Astana, Kazakhstan on July 5, 2010.
The Agreement is aimed at establishing a legal basis for the Customs Union within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Community with due consideration for the economic integration of the Russian Federation, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
The Agreement is based on provisions of the Eurasian Economic Community Foundation Treaty of October 10, 2000 and the Treaty on Creating a Single Customs Territory and the Customs Union of October 6, 2007.
The Agreement specifies, in particular, the formats of cooperation between customs authorities in investigating crimes and bringing offenders to criminal and administrative liability for violation of customs legislation of the Customs Union and its member states.
The Agreement will ensure the uniform application of the Customs Union legislation in the classification of criminal and administrative offences.
