The Federal Law is aimed at increasing responsibility for instituting criminal proceedings against a person known to be innocent. Thus, maximum punishment for this crime shall increase from five to seven years in prison, or up to ten years in prison if the person was accused of grave or extremely grave crime, or the indictment led to severe consequences.
The same punishment is envisaged for illegal prosecution with the aim of obstructing business activities or if the crime was committed in order to benefit personally.
