The meeting was attended by Kirov Region Governor, Chairman of the State Council Commission on Education Igor Vasilyev, Irkutsk Region Governor Igor Kobzev, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture Lilia Gumerova, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education Sergei Kabyshev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Andrei Omelchuk, representatives of relevant federal and regional executive bodies, public organisations, educational and scientific organisations.
In his opening remarks, Igor Levitin noted that the regions needed scientific studies that would help them overcome sanctions and ensure import substitution and economic growth within the shortest possible time.
Chairman of the State Council Commission on Science and Novosibirsk Region Governor Andrei Travnikov reported on the proposals submitted by the Russian regions to ensure the activities of the scientific and educational sector in the sphere of science and innovation policy amid external sanctions pressure.
Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Andrei Omelchuk informed the participants about the measures taken by the Government to support science. Vice President of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Parmon reported on the proposals to support scientific research.
First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Osmakov and Deputy Chairman of the State Council Commission on Industry, First Deputy Governor of the Tula Region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported on the involvement of scientific and educational sector in import substitution.
The proposals approved by the meeting participants will be submitted to the State Council working group on economic issues and preventing the spread of the coronavirus for further study in conjunction with the Government Commission on enhancing the sustainability of the Russian economy under sanctions.
