At the beginning of the meeting, Vladimir Putin informed Viktor Sadovnichy that he had been awarded the title of Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation for his contribution to science and the Russian education system. “As a scientist, you have accomplished a great deal for Russia, and, as an organiser, you have also made significant contributions to science and the higher education system,” the President said.
The President acknowledged that, under Viktor Sadovnichy’s leadership, Lomonosov Moscow State University had made progress even during the most challenging times. Vladimir Putin assured the Rector of Moscow State University that, in his capacity as Chair of the University’s Board of Trustees, he would do everything possible to support the University’s long-term development.
In response to the President’s inquiry about specific plans and ideas for development, Viktor Sadovnichy mentioned that there were plans to include the University in a programme for building world-class campuses under the Science and Universities national project. Vladimir Putin promised to discuss this matter with his colleagues and to help complete the University’s campus.
