The message reads, in part:
“For centuries, our nations have been linked by close ties of friendship and trust. Living side by side, our ancestors created a shared history, which we are rightly proud of today, and contributed to the merging and mutual enrichment of national cultures. During Great Patriotic War we fought a common enemy for our independence. It is gratifying that these invaluable traditions of good neighbourliness and partnership are evolving and are passed down from generation to generation, and for hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis Russia is their second home.
Today, the Azerbaijani diaspora makes a significant contribution to the modernisation of national economy, is actively engaged in academic, sporting and cultural life, is instrumental in strengthening inter-ethnic and inter-religious peace and harmony in society, and the development of partnership and cooperation with the sovereign Azerbaijan.”
Over 200 delegates from 72 Russian regions gathered in Moscow for the Congress.
