The presidents discussed current issues of Russian-Venezuelan cooperation in energy, trade, investment and the cultural and humanitarian areas. Russia continues to assist Venezuela’s leaders in their effort to strengthen their national economy and sovereignty.
During the exchange of views on international issues, the presidents emphasised their common approaches to the creation of a fair multipolar world order and the rejection of unlawful sanctions and interference in the domestic affairs of states.
Nicolas Maduro told Vladimir Putin about his talks with the President of Guyana on the developments in Essequibo. Vladimir Putin advocated a settlement of the territorial dispute between Venezuela and Guyana through political and diplomatic means.
The leaders exchanged acknowledgements of the upcoming New Year and Christmas holidays and agreed to keep in touch. The President of Venezuela received confirmation of his invitation to visit Russia next year.
