The talks between the leaders of the two countries began in a tete-a-tete format.
They discussed prospects for expanding bilateral relations of strategic partnership and alliance still further, with a focus on trade, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. They exchanged opinions on key regional issues.
Following the international consultations in an expanded format, a ceremony was held to exchange the documents signed following the talks. Intergovernmental agreements on cooperation in the rehabilitation of the territories of the Republic of Tajikistan affected by uranium mining and ore mining operations and on the creation of an Industrial Park in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan were signed. In addition, the Strategic Partnership Programme of the two countries’ Defence Ministries for 2026–2030, the Agreement between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan on cooperation in the industrial sector, as well as interdepartmental memorandums on cooperation in improving the financial literacy of the population and in the field of digitalisation and information technology were signed.
In addition to this, the presidents of Russia and Tajikistan made statements for the press.

Before we start our conversation, I would like to congratulate you and all people of Tajikistan on the upcoming Nowruz holiday, due to be celebrated on March 21. I would like to wish you and all our friends in Tajikistan, as well as every family, all the best.
On March 2, elections were held in Tajikistan and the party you head scored a landslide victory. This confirms once again that the people of Tajikistan support you. We hope very much that citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan also support your line to maintain neighbourly and friendly relations of strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Russia. I am confident that we will continue to work jointly in this manner.
We are expecting you in Moscow on May 9. We have agreed on this, and you have accepted our invitation to take part in celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Russia is a key and vital trade and economic partner of Tajikistan. Our relations continue to develop. Last year, bilateral trade increased by over seven percent and reached $1.5 billion. Investment volumes are just about the same and even more, totalling $1.6 billion. Eighty regions of the Russian Federation maintain relations with their partners from Tajikistan’s regions.
You and I are engaged in ensuring security in our region, the zone of responsibility of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation. Tajikistan is working actively in this organisation. Today, we are set to sign the relevant documents, including in this sphere.
We are very happy to see you. We have many topics for discussion, and all of them have been prepared in advance. Of course, as always, it will probably be necessary to discuss some issues additionally at the level of ministries and agencies. Both sides have well-trained teams. We are delighted to see you.

Security holds a special place on our bilateral agenda. I am ready to discuss all of this with you today: the current state and prospects of our relations, as well as international and regional issues.
