Tsukanov Nikolai


Aide to the President
Born March 22, 1965, in the village of Lipovo, Gusev District, Kaliningrad Region.
In 1999, he graduated from the Higher School of Privatisation and Business.
In 2006 he completed professional retraining at the Northwest Civil Service Academy.
1983: worked as a gas-electric welder at Mikrodvigatel Plant in Kaliningrad Region.
1983–1985: completed compulsory military service.
1986: worked as a Pioneer movement youth leader at the Orlyonok National Pioneer Camp.
1987–1989: was a Komsomol youth movement functionary in Zelenograd District and the town of Gusev in Kaliningrad Region.
1989–2000: was head of youth enterprises in the town of Gusev, Kaliningrad Region.
2000–2005: lawyer at Tekhinvestmed Scientific-Technical Centre in Moscow.
2005–2010: head of Gusev Municipal District in Kaliningrad Region.
2010–2016: Governor of Kaliningrad Region.
2016–2017: Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy in the Northwest Federal District.
From December 25, 2017 – Aide to the President of the Russian Federation.
Full State Counsellor 1st Class of the Russian Federation.
Holds a Candidate of Sciences degree in psychology.
Mr Tsukanov is married and has two children.
