A number of current matters pertaining to the Russia-Hungary cooperation were discussed, including progress made in implementing the agreements reached following the November 28, 2025 talks between Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orban held in Moscow.
The leaders also had a discussion of the dramatic escalation surrounding Iran which grew to affect the entire Middle East, including from the point of view of its potential consequences for the global energy market.
During an exchange of views on Ukraine, Vladimir Putin commended Hungary's principled stance in support of resolving the conflict via political and diplomatic means as well as its overall commitment to pursuing a balanced and sovereign course in international affairs.
Issues concerning Hungarian nationals that were mobilised into the Ukrainian Armed Forces and subsequently captured as PoWs were on the agenda as well.
The leaders agreed to maintain contact at various levels.
