The meeting addressed issues of public administration in international relations between the two nations, cooperation between civil society institutions, and training staff.
Magomedsalam Magomedov talked about the new state ethnic policy model that Russia has been implementing for the last three years. In particular, the President approved a federal strategy for implementing the state ethnic policy, aimed at strengthening unity in the Russian nation and ethno-cultural development of Russian peoples. The Government provides a range of measures to fulfil its stipulations. A Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations was formed. Organisational and financial conditions for implementing the state ethnic policy were createdin the regions. With the formation in March 2015 of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs in accordance with a Presidential decision, the current phase of the system for implementing Russia’s state ethnic policy is complete.
Yeraly Tugzhanov explained the specificities of implementing the Republic of Kazakhstan’s state ethnic policy, with special emphasis on an important element in the nation’s political system: the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan. The work of the Assembly is aimed at implementing state ethnic policy, ensuring socio-political stability in the republic and increasing the efficacy of cooperation between state and civil society institutions in interethnic relations. President Nursultan Nazarbayev is the Chairman of the Assembly. All Kazakhstani regions have small assemblies of People of Kazakhstan and functioning houses of friendship.
Following the meeting, both parties agreed to continue cooperation.
The Republic of Kazakhstan’s delegation is in Moscow within the framework of the Forum of the Peoples of Russia being held there.
