”The people of Russia and Abkhazia are historically linked by strong bonds of spiritual kinship, friendship and mutual aid – the message reads. Today, the recognition of the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia by the Russian Federation and the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two nations gives this good tradition new content. The signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between Russia and Abkhazia laid the foundation for developing a legal framework for our bilateral relations on a long-term and equitable basis. I am sure that these steps are dictated by the interests of our peoples and will contribute to peace and stability in the Caucasus.
Russia will continue to provide friendly Abkhazia a maximum amount of assistance in security matters, economic development and in creating conditions so that its population can live a decent life.“
