According to Sergei Ivanov, celebrations of the 200th anniversary of victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 this year were organised and held well and had a positive effect on the patriotic education of young people and on increasing Russia’s prestige in the world.
The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office thanked members of public associations, volunteers and re-enactors for their participation in celebratory events, as well as ministers of the Russian Orthodox Church, Moscow leadership and administration, and mayors of the territories where the events were held. In addition, Sergei Ivanov remarked on the excellent work done by law enforcement and special services officers that were engaged in ensuring security during the celebrations.
Mr Ivanov also pointed out the importance of completing a series of planned events that will bring the celebrations to a close. In particular, he referred to events honouring the Russian army’s foreign campaigns in 1813 and 1814.
Moreover, Sergei Ivanov spoke of the need to finally remove all commercial and other erections from the Borodino Field. The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office stressed that only military historical facilities and sites can remain on the territory of the Borodino Field museum.
