“Over this time, fundamental work to form the legal foundation of our country has taken place”, Mr Medvedev said in his message. “Important laws have been passed, paving the way for successful state-building, economic and social development, and protecting the rights and freedoms of our citizens.
Today we can say with confidence that a Russian parliamentary tradition has emerged, a tradition of professional excellence, responsibility, and constructive cooperation with the executive authorities and the country’s regions.
This will, I am sure, help us to successfully realize the strategic objectives that we have set for our society, above all, innovation-driven economic growth, a modern new social policy and higher living standards for our people”.
The first Federal Assembly State Duma held its first session on January 11, 1994.
