The President extended his greetings to the author on his recent birthday and presented him with the Order of Alexander Nevsky for his contribution to the development of national literature and for many years of public activity.
On January 1, Daniil Granin turned 95. The President’s greeting to the writer read, in part:
“You rightly enjoy great well-deserved respect as a courageous, strong-willed person who passed through the fire of the Great Patriotic War, as an outstanding author, a true Russian intellectual and enthusiast. Your books are filled with sincere love for humankind and for Russia with its great history and traditions. They raise important moral issues and fully reflect your outlook on life and your civic stance.”
