Opening the restricted-format meeting, President of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao highly appraised the results of his last meeting with President Vladimir Putin during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Tashkent in June.
Mr Putin thanked Mr Hu for his invitation to visit China and noted that there is good potential for relations between the two countries to develop.
During the enlarged-format meeting, Mr Putin affirmed that developing relations with China is a priority for Russian foreign policy. The President expressed the hope that his talks with Mr Hu would lead to another step forward in developing bilateral cooperation.
Mr Putin invited Mr Hu to take part in the celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of victory in World War II in May next year.
