At the meeting, prospects were discussed of cooperation between the two countries at regional level.
The Russian President proposed to include the Russian regions in a programme of development for western regions of China. Mr Putin said that Russian companies could become involved in the construction of a system of hydroelectric stations in the provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan, and also in infrastructures, oil and gas and energy projects.
Russian participants at the meeting were Presidential aid Sergei Prikhod’ko, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Zhukov, Presidential plentipotentiary envoys in the Siberian and Far East districts Anatoly Kvashin and Konstantin Pulikovsky, the heads of the Primorye and Khabarovsk Krais, and the Amur, Kaluga, Chita Oblasts and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast.
Chinese participants at the meeting were deputy Premier of the Chinese People’s Council Wu Yi, and also representatives of the Xinjiang-Uighur and Ningxia Huizu autonomous regions, and the provinces of Shaanxi, Qinghai and Gansu.
